Tank Mānawa Bay – More Than Meets the Eye
Tank Juice has been a proud Kiwi brand since 1998, serving up fresh, healthy juices, smoothies, salads, and wraps. With over 90 stores nationwide, their mission is simple: make it easy for Kiwis to enjoy everyday wellness through real, wholesome ingredients. Spaceworks is equally proud of our long-standing partnership with Tank, working together to design and create spaces that reflect their brand ethos while delivering exceptional customer experiences.
The design of the Tank kiosk at Mānawa Bay takes things a step further—it’s not just about looking good; it’s about creating a seamless, intuitive customer experience. From ordering to paying and collecting their meal, the layout makes the whole process feel natural without relying on lots of signage. One clever feature is the orange light reflected on the floor, subtly guiding customers through the kiosk. It helps manage queues and leads the way in tandem with overhead signage, all while integrating Tank’s signature orange branding with a clean, neutral palette.
Functionality Meets Style
The salad bar is the heart of the kiosk, designed to streamline internal workflows while encouraging customer interaction. It’s all about making sure staff can work efficiently and customers feel at ease.
Mānawa Bay, with its spacious shopping centre layout, gave us the chance to do something different. Instead of the standard rectangular kiosk, we introduced a curved design—requested by the landlord, Auckland Airport to fit the aesthetics of the dining precinct. One side curves beautifully, while the other remains rectangular, striking a balance between form and function.
The curved canopy, another unique addition, reinforces Tank’s brand presence and shows how creative design can adapt to meet unique site requirements proving that one size doesn’t fit all.
To elevate the customer, experience even more, LED screens were added at the pickup point to give people something to engage with while waiting and provide an extra touchpoint for Tank’s branding.
For Tank, mall kiosks like Mānawa Bay are key revenue drivers, often outperforming street-side or in-store locations. Getting the design and functionality spot on was critical, balancing aesthetics with practical workflows to ensure smooth operations for staff and a great experience for customers.
Lead designer Anau Milton loved the challenges of this project, especially tailoring the design to fit the location perfectly. With 10 more Tank outlets planned for next year, Anau is excited to keep evolving the designs, proving that thoughtful, customised spaces are the way forward.
This is just the start—watch this space as Tank rolls out across the country, each with its own unique story.
