Slattery & Sons: A New Hospitality Design Destination in Britomart
A New Irish Bar in the Britomart Precinct
If you are looking for a bar with great food to make your local this summer, Slattery & Sons should be high on the list. Located at 102 Quay Street in the Britomart Precinct, this is one of those places that feels like it has always belonged there, even though it has just opened its doors. Chances are, we will see you there.
From the generous street-side outdoor seating to the rooftop Bloom Bar above, Slattery & Sons is a thoughtful example of contemporary hospitality design, created for long afternoons that quietly turn into evenings. Guinness poured properly, cocktails on tap and the now-infamous Spice Bag, fried chicken being our favourite.
Designing Within a Heritage Building
Formerly Brew on Quay and once a working police station, the heritage-listed brick building brings character to the street. The exterior sets the tone immediately, with strong green window framing and a multi-tonal green palette layered against the original brickwork. Drawing on Victorian design influence and contemporary detailing, the result is confident, premium and distinctly Irish. Pressed tin ceilings, endless wall mouldings, original timber heritage walls and curated artwork by our own team celebrate the past while supporting a premium Irish offering
Layered Spaces and Intimate Rooms
Rather than one large open space, the venue unfolds into a series of more intimate rooms, including the Snug, the Nook and the Whiskey Room. Each space has its own mood and scale, encouraging people to move through the venue and settle in wherever feels right. This layered approach is central to good hospitality design, where atmosphere and experience matter as much as function.
Half-height curtains soften the exterior windows, paired with gold leaf lettering that adds a crafted, tactile detail. The Whiskey Room is a standout, housing an exceptional selection of whiskeys and anchoring Slattery & Sons as a genuine Irish bar rather than a themed interpretation.
Rooftop Hospitality for Summer
Upstairs, the Piper-Heidsieck Bloom Bar opens to a rooftop setting made for summer. Named after the renowned champagne house, it offers cocktails on tap and expansive outdoor seating, creating a lighter, more open experience that contrasts beautifully with the intimacy below. It’s also a great space for your next function or birthday party.
