Auckland Design Week 2025 – Wrapped

Auckland Design Week 2025 showcased the future of workspaces, and we at Spaceworks were thrilled to be a part of it. Did you ever look forward to a Monday? At this year’s event, we explored how AI, AR, and VR are transforming offices into places people genuinely want to be. I joined a panel of industry leaders to discuss how these technologies, under the ‘Chance + Change’ theme, are redefining workplace design.

Our panel, “Blurring Boundaries: How AI, AR, and VR Are Redefining Workspace and Furniture Design for a Better Monday Morning,” went beyond the hype to explore practical applications. We discussed AI-driven layouts that adapt to employee needs, VR walkthroughs for pre-construction visualisation, and AR integrations for enhanced collaboration. Richard Voss, Diego Betanzo, Ange Wallace and Sam Ramlu brought invaluable perspectives, reinforcing our belief that great workplaces prioritise human experience.

Key Insights: Design, Digital, and Leadership

Karim Rashid’s keynote, “The Future of Design,” challenged us to reconsider the digital age’s impact on creativity. He emphasised the need for designs that are both functional and emotionally resonant. The “Women Shaping Innovation Through Tech” panel highlighted the crucial role of female leaders in driving technological advancements in design.

Blurring Boundaries: Practical Tech in Workplace Design

At Spaceworks, we’re already implementing these technologies. We use VR to help clients visualise their spaces, integrate AI-driven solutions for optimised layouts, and explore AR applications for enhanced workplace functionality. We believe that by embracing these technologies, we can create workspaces that are not only efficient but also inspiring.
